Help Video stutter when recording

Hey all,

I have had numerous ROMs on my MT, bot Froyo & CM7 and have intermittently had problems recording 720p videos. At first I thought it was a slow SD card, but switched that out for one that benchmarks plenty high enough and will still have it happen, but not every time. I even switched back to stock last night, had my initial test video record just fine & then tried another one this morning & it hung up on playback twice during the 17 second video. I know it's not a playback problem because I'v copied the videos to my computer & get the same stutters.

Anyone else have this annoying issue? Not cool when you're trying to catch your kid doing something cute, only to play back the video & have it stop 3 times in 30 seconds.

EDIT: Trying U9000 with it's stock kernel instead of Umph to see if that makes any difference...

I remember seeing somewhere that the problem is related to the cheap SD card. Try using Class 6 and up.

i know that most cm7 roms have a video playback issue if your holding the phone upright it'll stutter or flicker


im curious now to if that bug also effects the video while recording, when you recorded the video were you holding the phone upright or to the side?



sorry that im of no help here lol ive got no ideas for ya, im just curious to if its just a record problem, or if its the bug for video playback also effecting video recording


either way from what ive been reading chairshot(probly not spelled correctly lol) of MTDev team has currently been chasing alot of the video problems with MTDev-cm7 around trying to work them all out, so if worst came to worst you could hope that whenever that fix is released that ur video recording may work correct again

When I record video it "clicks" randomly - about every 4 seconds. Maybe when the light changes or when re-focusing?
I'm using MIUI, and I also had it with CM7. I don't have this issue with stock rom.
I don't know if this is a common thing or if it's just on my phone...

The clicks are from the focus, since our device team doesn't have the exact code, most people believe its the camera hitting the glass

I think if that were the case someone woulda had that glass break by now, I think its going the other way, the way I picture it is like a plastic gear, once it reaches its Max either out or in its gonna click cause it'll start to jump the last plastic tooth to try and go farther cause it doesn't know what's goin on lol

Thanks for the feedback all- I was using a PNY class 10 & getting the stutter- got a good deal on a Sandisk class 10 and that seems so far to have fixed the problem (knock on wood).

As far as the camera clicks, all the CM7 ROMs seem to do it. I seriously hope it's not the lens hitting the glass or jumping a gear tooth- seems like either of those will eventually kill the camera!

the Vibration motor for our phone is mounted right next to the camera literally so so close lol, if i were to guess anything could damage the camera constant vibration would be my number 1 probly lol
