Videos not working

Can anyone please help.

I've bought a Samsung Tab 4 8" tablet.

I've got some video files, that work fine on my PC and TV.

I've converted them using Handbrake & VidCoder using the "Android Tablet" preset. This has created a MP4 file.

When I view the videos on the tablet, it shows the thumbnail and title, but there is "0" against the length.

When I try and play, it says "unable to play video".

Please help. I'm trying to set this up for a xmas pressie.

I think the stock Samsung video player can be a bit limited in what it supports. The videos you encoded are suffixed MP4, but what actual codec did you use? Maybe the Samsung player doesn't support it. Try installing a third-party video player, like MX or VLC, they're both pretty good and support a wide variety of codecs and formats.

Hello. Like I said in line 4. Is there something else you need to know?
Hello and welcome to the forums. You say your having trouble with your tablet. How did you convert

It looks like it used H.264(x264). Is this right? I've downloaded MX, and it still doesn't work.

Oh hang on, in that same section, "Video Codec" it has preselected H.264, but there is an option for MPEG-4???

I often used Handbrake myself to rip and encode DVDs to MP4, but I've always used the iPad setting, and that always works fine for everything. My thinking is, if it will play on an iOS device, it should play on anything, and they always have.
