Help View text messages on computer

So today I became the proud owner of a moto x with a broken screen ;). I cannot access the device at all due to the damage. The problem is I can't get a new phone for 5-7 days. My question is, is there anyway to view texts on mac or pc? I cannot get to usb debugging to enable and am wondering if i could alter that setting from any program on a computer? I have android file viewer installed and am wondering if I could copy a .db file over and convert to view? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there and welcome to Android forums!

I've moved this into the moto x forums so others with your device can better help you.

Cheers and good luck

Motorola Connect allows you to do that. Just download it from the Play store on your computer, but you have to be using Google Chrome for an internet browser for it to work. After downloading that, install the Motorola Connect extension for the browser. All of the setup should be done using a computer and not the phone. I use it and love it. Good luck!

FWIW, I have never used Motorola Connect on my phone. I just tried installing the extension in Chrome on my computer, and it still hasn't successfully connected to my phone. It's telling me to open Motorola Connect on the phone and make sure that the phone is using the same email address. So, unfortunately, I think you do need to actually run the app on the phone to get it to work.

What carrier? You can send/receive texts on Verizon's site. They do have a messaging app that syncs with the site but I'm pretty sure you don't have to have it on your phone to use texting from the web.
Maybe all carriers have such a thing?

Thanks for the replies! Also tried moto connect just a bit ago and no luck. It seems you do have to sync with phone as doogald stated. I have republic wireless, which is a great carrier for the wallet! I keep looking but it doesn't seem theres much you can do without accessing the phone. Unfortunately, I can only see a small sliver of the screen and can't get passed lock screen. Oh well this is probably the 80th time I've dropped a phone and the first time its broke. Ill gladly take my other 79 victories lol.

Yes, there is at least one step that needs to be completed on the device to be able to use Connect.
