Help Viewing a webpage w/the S3

All you need to do is to double tap and check on auto fit, zoom settings in browser for your liking. This has been basic features in android browser for long time.
Some other good android browsers like Dolphin, Chrome might show pages better to you in default setting.

Please be kind, I'm a grandma.
Double tap enlarges the page on my S3, but does not word-wrap. I must need to do the above, and check "auto fit". But where are the browser settings? I don't see 'browser" in the phone's settings menu, and they don't seem to be under my menu button when I've got the stock browser open.

Thanks

A grandma w/an S3 !!! Your one cool granny !! Wish my grandma was this cool.

When you've got the stock browser open, tap on menu button. The menu comes up but Settings isn't there... drag the menu up, and hidden options come up from below the screen! Settings option is at the bottom.

EDIT: This catches everyone out at first ;)

There it is! Thanks so much. Wow, there's lots of stuff under there, and there's the browser "brightness" control I've thought was just a myth, too. Yay! Can finally see it.

For me a simply double tap zooms and columnates. You may have to change the 'zoom' setting in the browser settings. I don't recall how I set mine, but almost any webpage I go to, I can double tap and it zooms to fill the screen while maintaining columns.

Ken, I tried the double tap with a friend's new VZW S3 on Saturday night and it didn't work. Does he have to enable that option? He just got the S3 so he had no idea.

Also, I found it so dark so I increased the brightness in the startup settings area and it was great except for the internet browser. It was very dark even after the rest of the main functions of the phone were very bright. Is there some setting to brighten the browser. Unfortunately, they're in an area where there is no LTE in Commack NY. Phone sound quality was great

I'm assuming this is standard? It's how I read webpages on iPhone.

Like I said...

I'm really trying to be helpful and not come off like a sarcastic jackass, but honestly these are the very basics of Android or even iOS...double tap has been around for YEARS...as have apps, even on a Blackberry! I will take some screenshots of what I am talking about and post here so you can see what I'm trying to say.

I understand, yet people (above me) are still having issues. It would be helpful to add if something needs to be done to get it to work. I don't have my S3 yet but I just assumed it was built into the browsers features to double tap to column text.

In the stock browser, hit menu then settings then advanced then auto fit pages... Or something like that. Also, to change brightness you hit menu (in the browser) and scroll down... You'll see brightness and colors. These are things that are EASILY found.... If you try. (directed at the OP)

Everyone is talking about double tapping and auto-fit. But I think the O.P. and others may be referring to is that when you pinch to zoom even larger the text does not word-wrap, as it did on my Rezound and some other phones

Go back and read.... I mentioned it more than once and even included a screen shot of what text reflow looks like.
