Views on a better firewall app?

Hi, I wanted to have a firewall because I'm a little paranoid about leaving my personal data unattended. I don't know if that really helps in the Android OS, but I use a firewall everywhere I store my personal data. I'm really used to the clicking upon the pop-ups for permitting a program to perform its function. I've searched on google and the forum but I didn't have any solid results, I would like to have some opinions from the veterans here. I'm really afraid looking at the permissions some apps ask for when installing, even the pre-installed google apps ask for some nasty permissions like google now. Thanks in advance.

Sure, firewall helps improve privacy. Personally I use afwall+ (needs root). It allows you to specify which apps can access internet via wifi, and which can access internet via data. Simple and powerful, I also like it because it is relatively open source, with a dedicated thread on xda. There are scores of firewalls on Play, including some that don't need root.

Thanks for the opinion Electricpete. Can you name some firewalls which doesn't need rooting? I would do some search as you mentioned, but your suggestions are welcome. :)
