Help Viewsonic Vpad 7 wont recognize microsd card

I'm trying to use a microsd card in my girlfriends new viewsonic vpad7 but when I put it in nothing happens and I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know why its not being recognized at all? Is there something I need to do besides putting the sd card in? I tried 2 different ones one 2gb and one 8gb and both nothing happened please help.
