Root Villain & Vanillain: What is the difference?

Budius

Newbie
I'm kinda newbie on the subject as I have my Hero for only 2 weeks and only rooted when HTC decided to postpone to July.

now I'm on Vanillain ... and after I installed it I started seeing a lot of stuff about Villain (which at the beginning I didnt noticed it was a different one)...

so the question:
was the difference?

Different ROM, developed by someone else, and it has no Sense. Villain is the rom you want!

Villain is most like the normal hero, it has the same user interface (called HTC Sense). Vanillain is a play on words with vanilla, and means android without HTC sense.

thanks guys,

but I guess the one I want would be the vanillain... cause personally I prefer the nexus UI better than the sense UI...

but then it lies the questions on stability, speed, performance... I already noticed that vanilain is not the best on those terms

-----

well.. I just finished installing villain and it's bootin up now... let's see what happens

before rooting I was already using the hero without the sense UI... maybe I can do the same on the villain...

thanks for the link.. I'll check it

Xtiro,

I've installed that rom u pointed me...
I had some initial trouble setting up the mobile data network as it was not recognizing automatically.
1st I thought the radio thing, updated and nothing.
then I noticed the APN thing empty and the option to manually add one.. so there you go.. Google -> t-mobile uk apn .... add whatever I found on the resul and is the fastest ROM I tested and it uses a nexus style UI... sweet =)

Oh yeah, I didn't realise it was a missing APN at first either :P
