Root [Virgin Mobile] A confused newbie

I am super confused about the whole new firmware update. Should I update? Is it safe? And will my external2internal stay (I'm running an old version of victorious with the external2internal in it. Running the July 30th kernel because I was unsure about installing the latest.) if anyone could help that would be great. I've had rooted androids for years but is still don't understand much besides how to flash things. Anyway, thanks for any help!

EDIT : the reason that I have the old version of victorious is for the external2internal cuz I don't even ever get that right. It always just makes both storage the same.

For now I'd just hold off until the kinks are worked out and a working update with all the good parts is made.

Since you're on Victorious it's quite a pain to flash the entire update since you have to return to stock rom and use CWM recovery and do a minor edit to the update to make it flash.
