Root [Virgin Mobile] Android 4.4.2 VM SPH-L710

Longtime lurker, first time having issues with any modification.

Installed the stock ND8 through Odin, installed Phills, applied the APN fix, no problems.

Data seems to be working, but I'm getting the invalid short code text (MSG 2133) when I tried to send MMS or SMS through hangouts or the stock messaging app. Any ideas?

Edit: Double-checked to make sure account balance is good, everything looks normal. Hmm.
Edit2: Re-flashed the APN fix and everything is hunky dory. Phew, was sweating bullets for a split second.

I'm running 4.3 MK5 Stock Deodex Rom right now. What steps did you take into flashing the Sprint ND8 ROM?

Not sure, but the guy who put that MK5 together, I hear he's a swell dude. Lol....I kid. The gentleman had it right. Flash the full restore tar, just back up your internal first, it'll wipe it. Then if you want odex or deodex they're out too.

Alright, for those who need steps, here they are:
1) If you want anything on your internal memory, back it up. It will be erased.
2) Place the most up to date LTE Phillz recover ZIP (not TAR) onto your phone's EXTERNAL mem card along with either the Odexed or Deodexed version of the stock rom, what ever you decide to go with. Also make sure the latest APN fix is on there as well. Some people reportedly haven't needed it, but I did so I recommend to have it on there just in case.
3) Download the latest SPR Philz Recovery TAR (not ZIP), as Odin will not install the latest LTE due to checksum errors. (This may not occur for everyone, but it did for me)
4) Put your phone into Download Mode and use Odin to flash the ND8 tar ball. This will basically make your phone the Sprint SIII.
5) Immediately after it finishes, flash the SPR Philz Recovery. When that is complete, pull the batt, reinsert it and boot into recovery. Install the LTE Philz Recovery zip and reboot into Recovery.
6) Once back into Recovery, install whatever ROM you happened to fancy.
7) I booted the phone to test if I needed the APN fix. I had no data so I needed the APN fix and rebooted into recovery and installed it. You could try to do it before first boot, but I have seen a few instances so far in the forums where people installed it before first boot and had some funky data issues, installed it again and the problems went away. I can only assume that first boot is possibly writing something to modify APNs, thereby overwriting what ever fix you installed prior to first boot.

That's it! You should have a phone on ND8 and with VM service now! As far as I can see everything works like a charm.

There were some annoying processes like the "Wifi Optimizer" stuff that I shut off because they were draining batt life, but other than that the rom has been rock solid for me.

Ah yes thank you. Can I find the SPR Philz you mentioned here? Or do I need to go to XDA?

I tried a TW ROM again before taking the ND8 jump. After running the MOAR ROM for a few days I decided to wait until it goes to the ND8 version. I love it.

Added links to my previous post.

Alright. Cool. It worked! No problems yet. Just have to restore all the files on my internal and download previous apps on my phone again. Also gotta get rid of this bloatware. I flashed the "add mobile data toggle" and that's fine as well. 4G works. MMS works.

EDIT: Also, does anyone know if its possible to send/receive MMS messages through Google Hangout MMS via wifi without having mobile data on?

Virgin mobile does not currently support MMS over Wifi.

It's TW for one, which some people prefer. And it comes with the latest modem and Samsung goodies. It's all about personal preference I guess :)

Is it me, or the scroling is really wonky and bad compared to mk5?, its like they changed the scrollinf modifiers and added an elastic effect I really hate!, do you guys notice this?

hey guys,

i have been rooting phones and flashing roms for a few years but i really have no working knowledge of everything that goes into that. i am having a problem, my virgin phone keeps trying to d/l the 4.4 update but then it reboots and asks me if i want to install untrusted zip. i go down to yes and it just restarts and nothing happens.

im rooted, running 4.3 with Moars V9.0.1 MK3

any help would be appreciated
