Root [Virgin Mobile] Aosp / google keyboard

I've noticed that the aosp keyboard that comes in Roms lacks some features the Google keyboard has. Is it useless to have both keyboards installed? Like are they running at the same time? Is it taking up more virtual memory having the Google keyboard installed also?

What are your guys thoughts and insight on thisssss
