So the CM11 and Carbon ROM's are KitKat, but first we need to get you up and running on the stock 4.3 JellyBean. You will need to download the zip in the thread I linked, unzip and then use Odin to push the tar file inside, and then we will get you re-rooted and running a KitKat ROM. The reason we are going to return you to stock first is to be sure you are fully functional, and to give you a chance to make a stock backup, which is something you always want to have available. A word of warning, be patient, the tar file is going to be almost a full gig of data, so will take a little bit to download, and will take about ten or twelve minutes to push via Odin. Let me know when you're ready.

Correct. You will want to follow the same procedure for pushing a custom recovery-put your phone into download mode, open Odin, uncheck Auto Reboot, put the file in the PDA slot, and then plug phone into your computer. Start the process of pushing the file once Odin recognizes your phone, and then, like I mentioned, it will take ten to twelve minutes to finish. Once finished, unplug your phone and then hold down the power button until it reboots. Also, do me a favor, when you reply in this thread (or any thread in the future), if you quote the previous reply I made, it will alert me that you have replied via Tapatalk on my phone. A lot of users have this type of notification set up, it allows the user to do other things and then check back after being notified!

Good deal. If you want to give rooting again a go, let me know, I will still be up for a while longer. You will need a tar file for Philz Touch and the latest SuperSU zip file; as I mentioned earlier, I think you might need to use an older d2spr file from Philz, then we can have you flash the latest d2lte version later, once we know the recovery has pushed to your phone properly. Also, I can link you to a copy of either CM11 or Carbon that is ready to flash, since flashing custom Sprint ROM's requires a little bit of work, at least prior to the new unified d2lte builds. Don't want to overwhelm you too much tonight!

OK, so three things you will need, and here are the links:

Philz Touch recovery for d2spr (you can update via flashing to the newest d2lte later, it sounds like the tar file for that wasn't working for you earlier):

Goo.im Downloads - Browsing d2spr; choose version 6.15.4

SuperSU version 1.93, you will flash this from recovery once Philz Touch is pushed via Odin:

And finally, my personal version of the M3 Snapshot CM11; this is debloated of apps I don't use, and has been modified to flash properly on VM phones; this will be a good one to get you going, so you can get your feet wet on KitKat:

Let me know when you have all three downloaded; you will want to place the SuperSU and CM11 files on your phone, internal or external (SD card) doesn't matter, I personally prefer external.

Unplug your phone from the computer, open Odin, place the Philz file onto the PDA slot, then plug your phone back in to computer. Make sure the Auto Reboot box is not checked. Push the Philz file to your phone, it should take two minutes.

They need to be on your phone. Pretty sure your problem was a glitch associated with TWRP, not that your SD card truly couldn't be read. If you want, internal storage is just as good as external for what we are doing here.
 
Which GApps did you download just out of curiosity? If I recall, you do have a zip file of 4.4 GApps, correct? You will need those after flashing CM11.
