So I tried to flash a couple of builds of 4.2.2 Cyanogenmod, but they didn't work and returned errors. CM 10.0 stable build works just fine though.

In reference to my didn't work comment, I was referring to flashing cm 10.0 it threw errors. what recovery and version are you using. .?

I've posted about that same exact CMod forums post before...like sean and some other posters above, I was at a loss when the OP of that thread failed to return and explain his method for flashing.

Like someone said, he mentions updating the firmware to MD4, but I have no clue how to do that...does anyone know? (And a sidenote - my firmware is MD7, so is it technically a downgrade?)

What I suspect (and this is a wild guess) is that you need to flash MD4 (that refers to the latest Sprint firmware, btw, just found that out) for its JB bootloader. I'm guessing our stock firmware has an ICS bootloader, that's why the asset failure errors occur.

If anyone knows anything about getting to MD4, or wants to find out how, please see my post HERE.

that guess seems pretty on point to me. might try it, want to do some research first.

I got it all working...as far as I can tell everything that I posted was right.

I'm gonna start working on an in-depth tutorial tonight with all the research I did so that hopefully not only will people be able to install CM10.1 but they'll also start to get to know the terminology that's used with the GS3.

Note: My MMS isn't working. I'm not sure if that's just how it is...I know that on other VM phones there are MMS fixes - if anyone knows of one for the GS3 I'd love to be able to include it in my tutorial.
