Master Subsidy Lock code. It's a code unique to your phone that the carrier uses to "control" some settings, like your phone number. Idea is, to keep you on their network because they have "subsidized" the cost of the phone.

Yeah it's basically the unlock code from what I've gathered. Not that unlocking our phones does much good because they are CDMA which is why the carrier will give it to you.

You need it if you install a Sprint rom for the first time to get MMS working properly.
