Root [Virgin Mobile] Enable ART

Supposedly KitKat allows the use of ART instead of Dalvik and runs faster (essentially ART converts code to machine code at the time of installation while Dalvik is a Just In Time compiler).

I can't find the toggle in the Developer Menu.

Does anyone know how to enable ART?

PS Can a moderator please fix the thread title so it says ART instead of ANT?

ART (Android Run Time). ART is still a work in progress and hasn't been enabled on non-developer phones. There are hacks I've seen, usually involving flashing a rom, that can get Art enabled on some of the Galaxies, but I'd check out those threads first to evaluate the risk.

I switched to ART on my Nexus 4 when Kit Kat was released and it does seem to perform a bit better and improve battery life a little. But, when updates happen, it's a damn slow process. It looks like ART needs to recompile all your apps after each system update, which with around 175 apps on my phone, takes close to 30 minutes to complete. I'm really hoping that is different with "L".

Not all ROMs are compatible with ART. I've never been able to get it to work. Under Development Settings, there should be an option that says Select Runtime. You'll be able to change it to ART there.

It looks like ART will be the only option with Android L. If that's the case Dalvik is going bye-bye.
