Virgin Mobile GS2 on the fritz! Need Help!

Ok so it rebooted in my pocket and when I took it out it wasn't o. So I tried to power it up and it showed the Samsung logo and the VM logo, then the keys lit up. Then nothing. It was powered off again. I know from previous phones that these things get bogged down in the memory and can do some pretty weird things. So I said well, I'll just do a factory reset and that will fix it. So I went into recovery and selected data wipe/Factory reset. It did its thing and when it was done, I rebooted it. When it came on it only got to the Samsung logo and then it powered off again.

Any ideas? It was stock and about a year and a half old.

Have you tried buying a new battery for it? Sounds like the battery is toast. When it's low on charge it boot loops the phone since it doesn't have enough juice to get it started.

You can get another battery from Amazon for at least $30. If all else fails check with Virgin Mobile to see if you can get a warranty replacement.

Well It's possible. I've got another extended battery that I have from a while ago that I can try it with. I did charge it to 100% not long before this happened though. But that doesn't mean it didn't go bad.

Thats what it was. Now I feel like a dumb A**. I put the spare battery in and it booted right up. I already baught a new S3. Got it for $100. Looks like the S2 is a back up now. Thanks for the help.

Well, to those of us who have known everything since the moment we were born ...

Most people don't know that a failing battery causes the problem you had. Now you're one of the few who know. That's not dumb in my book - you're smarter about one of the causes of phone failure than most people.
