Root [Virgin Mobile] Having Trouble with Carbon 4.3

Yeah, I'm a little baffled as well. The color issue was supposed to be resolved by any kernel build from after 10/20/2013, since that is when CM updated to fix their issue in their JellyBean nightlies. Anyway, here is leankernel for 4.3.x; if push really comes to shove, you can run stock kernel that comes with Carbon no problems, I just personally like the extra options that come with a custom kernel.

Also, maybe this sequence:

Wipe for Install New ROM

Flash just ROM and APN fix

Boot to system, let settle

Boot back to recovery, flash just custom kernel (don't bother with GApps right now, we just want to see if the ROM/kernel combo works or not) after cache/Dalvik wipe

Boot back to system
 
OK, just test flashed and zero problems. Here was my sequence:

Clean to Install New ROM (2x)

Flash Carbon 4.3 from 11/8/2013 and APN Fix to allow send and receive of MMS

Boot into system, let settle

Boot back to recovery, flash 11/21/2013 stable dkp kernel for AOSP 4.3.x, no wipe either before or after of cache or Dalvik

Boot back into system, no color issues
 
@ struckn I tried to flash just the ROM and the APN and we are back to the start. The splash screen before the boot animation just freezes. I tried to flash the LeanKernel and I have the problem with the green/pink screen. Is there anything I missed in converting this to a Virgin Mobile Rom? I read over your AIO post a few times but maybe I missed something. I removed the Asserts is there anything else I need to be doing that I'm stupidly missing?

I am able to flash your older one with no issues. I was hoping to get the "latest and greatest" on my phone essentially.

As for GAPPS I am using: gapps-jb-20130813-signed.zip

Don't know what to tell you at this point, if you see my above post I flashed everything just fine. Did you also check out the video I made to go along with my tutorial? Maybe watch it if you haven't and make sure that you did everything correctly, from a visual standpoint. The pertinent part for the asserts is just the beginning, you don't need to watch the whole sixteen minutes. The file I linked for Carbon is the exact same one I just flashed by the way. I am also using MK5 modem, and had no issues there either.

That version of Carbon was a stable release for 4.1.2 if I recall correctly. Their website is getting updated in preparation for KitKat, so you can't go by the dates. You only want to try nightly JB builds right now, don't bother with the stable folder. They never released a stable for 4.3 JellyBean. Therefore, you have been mixing Android build numbers by using that version of Carbon.

Edit: just checked the PacMan link as well, ditto the reply from my Carbon answer-those builds are too old. PacMan was plagued with problems on 4.3 as well, I wouldn't really recommend it in the first place for someone who is newer to this phone.

Well... that would go a really wrong way in explaining everything.... not feeling like a genius right now. I should have presented that information upfront. Same thing for the PACman Rom?

Don't worry about it, I follow all this stuff on a daily basis, so someone newer wouldn't really know. You did what anybody would do from a logic standpoint-choose stable, and choose newest date. Personally, I would just make the jump to KitKat now, so that you aren't getting confused by going back and forth on build numbers and mixing things that shouldn't mix. Carbon 4.3.x is freaking sweet though, my personal favorite ROM to date! I am about to go take my dog for a walk, but would be more than happy to continue this in a little bit to make sure you are set up the way you want/need to be. well i do know that some jb roms did not work with an ics boot-loader. i.e some jb roms may need 4.3 knox or an alternative.
knox is only an issue with the BYDTW peeps for job enforced phone security. and maybe those who like the screen mirroring built into the phone.
mine using stock 4.3 jdsingles edition did not work with root.
until i was device status normal and no root with 4.3 knox. now screen mirroring works and no more issues besides some bloat but at least i was able to turn it off with 4.3.
