Root [Virgin Mobile] having trouble with my virgin mobile galaxy victory

Lurker
Im ******ed when it comes to phones. All I want to do is activate a hotspot so I can get on xbox live. I dont think im rooting properly. Any suggestions

I'm still fairly simple when it comes to the finer tech issues, but using a Wi-Fi hotspot for Xbox live would use an enormous amount of data. Would probably be capped after you hit the 2gb limit as well. I could be totally off-base but a home internet system would be your best bet. good luck and game on!

Tethering for gaming is always going to be laggy and risky and half the time won't work. I've tethered a few times for PC games and even that was iffy. Some games would connect, some won't. You're better off buying a 15mbps DLS line from AT&T.

i agree, even if 4g is good, the phone will heat up, will break pipeline, wifi driver will constant reboot unless you have the Wifi PSM off, wont lag on good 4g line, but our phones just cant take the beating of chip to chip, just too much heat. only time i can tether with out issues, is if phone plugged in the fridge, but then signal is lost..

FWIW, I have never had issues tethering for long periods on the occasions that my net goes down. I've even had to stream a football game once or twice and haven't had a single problem. (on stock, victorious, or conquest)

When I have a good data flow I don't have any trouble streaming while tethering. Unfortunately during peak hours my data is nonexistent. But only in my parish. ( in Louisiana/new Orleans they have parishes instead of counties... Weird.) Two parishes over, great data, ugh. Both with full bars of signal.

portland has people, prob maybe the less clients on the towers, less stress to maintain up, i am pretty sure the more virgin/sprint phones on, the more hiccups

surrounded by city.. and i could be wrong, but when i was in bend oregon, (hell a lot smaller settlement) i had flawless access with no problems
but here in portland, phone bounces 3g to 4g to 3g to no signal, just bounces like mad, at times i do give up trying load a page, or buffer a song(wifi off)

and tether cant switch 3g to 4g while active, and that is how my tether keeps crashing is due the wireless bouncing connections 3g or 4g

When I'm home around 6 pm My 4g is so slow I switch my phone to 3g just speed up my data to load a webpage. But then around midnight 4g gets to 20 Mb. Oh well.
