virgin mobile htc one v. need,to make this gsm

Good day.

So i purchased a htc one v from the virgin mobile network.

On opening the base compartment i discovered that there was no sim card area exposed. Instead this version is enclosed with plastic.
I would assume that if i open the device with a screwdriver that there will be a sim card area. however i'm not sure if it would be enabled.

Secondly,im not sure if the virgin mobile software would accept a sim card.
So i want to know:

1. Will the slot be there and active if i open it?
2. Will it be posible to flash the phone to a different carrier's firmware?

Plz give me a detailed response with some sources. I wanna be sure of whether or not it is possible to use this as a gsm device

No. The virgin mobile phone is CDMA only

The only way to change carriers is to download software on your computer to change your PRL and apn to that carrier and only if that carrier will give you their correct information for you to be able to use their network
