Root [Virgin Mobile] I cannot find my nandroid backup?

Spartahog

Newbie
Hello, I made a backup to my internal sd card so I can make a copy for my PC. My backup is as follows:

Virgin Mobile Galaxy S3>Nandroid Backups>Normal backups>4-7-2015>clockworkmod>
backup>1970-01-01.00.21.37_KOT49H.L710VPUCNJ3
and it contains:
boot.img
cache.ext4.tar
cache.ext4.tar.a
data.ext4.tar
data.ext4.tar.a
data.ext4.tar.b
nandroid.md5
recovery.img
recover.log
system.ext4.tar
system.ext4.tar.a
system.ext4.tar.b

But now whenever I make a backup in my internal, it saves a clockwork folder both in my external sd card and internal but only the external has the following files:
boot.img
recovery.img
system.ext4.tar
system.ext4.tar.a

The internal sd card clockworkmod folder is empty. And whenever I make a external sd card backup, I encounter frequent errors when backing up boot, but more commonly android.secure, and when I do get it through, it can't find the backup on my external nor does it give me an option to delete it from the recovery, indicating "no files to delete". I have a 64gb external sd card with 31gbs free so it can't be insufficient storage. Am I missing something?

Make sure you have the latest philz, 6.48.4.
You can get it here
You can use the zip of it and just flash in the version you have now or use the .tar and flash with Odin.

I installed Philz 6.48.4 when I rooted the phone, I made no other changes other than installing basic apps, poweramp mxplayer and made a backup to internal sd card. Apparently, the backups were sent to mnt/shell/emulated/backup/, by backups I mean: boot.img, cache.ext4.tar, cache.ext4.tar.a, data.ext4.tar, data.ext4.tar.a, data.ext4.tar.b, nandroid.md5, recovery.img, recover.log, system.ext4.tar, system.ext4.tar.a, and system.ext4.tar.b.
In my external sd card, I would have the boot.img, recovery.img, system.ext4.tar, and system.ext4.tar.a in a folder named clockwordmod.

Actually a new problem arose but more from the external sd card. After making a final backup to install cyanogenmod, I selected wipe/factory install and then "to install rom" option, my external sd card was in my phone at the time. When I went to install cyanogenmod from my external it did not show up, I checked on my computer to see that it was deleted, so I went to put the cyanogenmod zip again but was not able to, I get an 0x80071AC3 error prompting me to run chkdsk which I did and found no errors. I managed to backup my external sd card files no problem its just that I can't delete them from my card now. I tried reformatting it via Philz and windows but it just won't format. I tried a quick and full format but windows notified me that it was unable to. I tried this via both right-clicking and choosing format, as well as disk management. I use and sd card adapter but it is not set to lock mode. I tried this with another micro sd card and it worked fine, I was able to delete and copy files.

I found out that my external sd card had 2 partitions after wiping/factory reset my phone. How do I restore my external sd card back to normal?

I would copy all your data from your card to computer first and and try using windows to format the card see if it's set to fat 32

I tried it and did not work. When plugging the phone with the card inside to the my computer, all I see is 0 bytes free. When using an sd card adapter I see 31.8GB free. In my phone, I see its mounted but when using a file explorer, the folder is empty. I do see some files that were etched in there after I made a wipe and backup, an .android_secure folder that appeared.

If you stuck the card into your pc right click and click properties see what the file system is looks like exfat if you have all your stuff backup on your pc then you can right click and choose format were you see it says exfat change to fat32 then click format remember all your stuff will be erased

I'm thinking, could the external sd card be locked by Philz recovery? I have tried everything, Easeus Partition, miniTool partition, CHKDSK and found no problems, the problem arose when I copied cyanogenmod 11 onto the external card via the usb cable to my phone. Then went to Philz, proceeded with factory wiped, then I made a nandroid, then I cleaned to install new rom. Immediately I went to install CM11 and could not find it, it was deleted and the nandroid placed android_secure in my ext-sd. Could the recovery itself could have locked my card?
EDIT:
Also why fat32? According to Sandisk, my card is supposed to be exfat. My card is a Sandisk 64GB Ultra SDXC.

Fat32 is the standard for android I'm thinking maybe your card might be defective if you check any other cards the will be formated fat32 by default I never heard of philz doing that I like twrp recovery it's for sprints phone there the same exact model try a different card that's fat32 you will see

Most likely philz doesn't support exfat
Use a different card that's fat32 back in the earlier days people had problems with ntf format needed to be fat32 just pickup a 2 gb or a 6gb or 8gb they are pretty cheap try it so you can see

Twrp doesn't read any partitions on the VM model. The one by octos works though. I've been using it for a bit. Its a little off (probably because its for the tribands) but works.

I guess it's matter of taste I like being able to add more then one zip
Me too. I love twrp. I just couldn't find one that worked. It wouldn't read any partitions, not even system. But the octos one works. It doesn't display progress correctly every time, but it does complete it.

Strange, I had no problems using the card before but at that exact moment. I have 2 spare microsd cards and no problems reading them. I am deducing it maybe a defective product as I do remember when I buying it, people have been reporting mounting issues, I as well, however, in my case it came through in the end 2 years ago the 2nd or 3rd day of purchase. Strange though it chose to die on me when trying to wipe and install cyanogenmod. Though the card mounts perfectly and able to read and copy off of it, it's just the wiring part. Actually, I'm worried about my nandroid backups being duds. So far, my first one is the first one in the first post that was made in the internal card and moved it to PC.

murphys law. There seems to be a problem with android forums i cant access from taptalk or my pc the only i can post
