Root [Virgin Mobile] I did something dumb but I don't know what

I played around with my phone a little bit last week and got it rooted. Was trying LiquidSmooth and LeanKernel but wasn't happy with it (I couldn't get themes to work at all, I figured it was the kernel), so I restored my last backup. Cut to today, I download a Material Wallpapers app and it won't let me download any of the wallpapers -- keeps insisting I reboot. I did that, twice, still nothing. Downloaded a different Material wallpaper app, same thing (different error message). Went to Zedge, tried downloading a wallpaper, "Download failed". I went to recovery and went "backwards in time" with my backups and still nothing. As near as I can tell, everything else is fine? Pretty much nobody communicates with me outside of Facebook and I haven't had any missed notifications. I'm getting all my Twitter and email notifications too. The Play Store has been allowing me to download and update apps fine. I'm so confused. I've never been so confused. And I'm often confused.

Could this be the fault of the kernel? I seem to remember that kernels don't get overwritten when restoring a backup, that they "stick", but I'm pretty sure that was in a forum of one of my old phones. I'm not sure if that still holds true today.

I am using Xposed but I also disabled all the modules and rebooted and still got the same error.
