Root [Virgin Mobile] I got a system update today.

I got a system update for vm GS3.
I was wondering if anyone else did.
I had to revert back to stock rom and recovery
to install it went quick.
I look into about device and didn't see any changes
Don't know if it failed didn't get any message failed
after rebooted up.

I just rooted my phone. How to revert back to install the update?

This update prompt is driving me nuts, if anyone knows a way to disable it I'd appreciate it very much.

I tried freezing sdm in titanium backup without any luck.

I'd even be happy to restore the stock recovery and unroot if that would help, but am not sure how to go about it.

(I'm root on stock os using CWM 6. something)
 
Saw the update after dl stock firmware through KIES while rooted with cwm.
Anyone says that doesn't work, hasn't tried it!!!

I was also able to capture the FULL firmware zip and have since extracted the STOCK recovery.img and tar'd it, tested it and, WORKS with Odin-3.04!!!

The update was a Samsung account software update... bleh, stopped it
 
Ok I got a system update the other day
as we all know u can't install it via ota
Because of custom recovery. So I reverted
Back to complete stock thourgh
Samsung Kies and did the update but I don't
think it took I didn't get a error message
also look in about device didn't see
any changes.
 
If that's the download link u have posted
It not working plese if u can fix nice to have stock
recovery for further ota updates kie is a pain.

soo we just click Firmware Upgrade and Initialisation in Kies and it should take my device back to unrooted stock ROM?


sorry, im kinda new to the android screen cause i came from IOS

Please don't reply with just kies because I just got my phone which I rooted and don't know which option to select within kies

So is the update worth it and how do we install if we have root access.
 
I got the prompt for it. Also wondering if it's worth going back to unroot. ( My phone is just rooted, no custom things or ROMS in it).
 
I got the update today, Im running Midnight ROM with CWM 6.0.2.8. The update was about 90mb. I wasnt able to install on Midnight; i guess you have to be on stock (and maybe stock recovery too).

Definitely stock recovery. Until someone figures it out for us.

I just looked inside the ZIP... and its a firmware update from MD7 to MG2 also there seems to be a patch for the bootloader, modem and kernel.... along with a wealth of other patches within the system.. i'd say it may be worth it... I'm gonna try to return to stock system and recovery then take the update. Then i'll install a custom recovery and root it again so i can upload a full updated ROM.... I have also made a zip for myself that just updates the bootloader to the new MG2 (which may be a jellybean bootloader.... fingers crossed) so i'm gonna try some things and then upload whatever I can when i'm done... I'll post the original update ZIP so others can pick it apart if they want.....
