Root [Virgin Mobile] New CM-Made Recovery

Hi All,

I just noticed about five days ago Cyanogen has been posting their own Recovery IMG on their downloads page for our phone (d2lte). Does anyone know if this is better compared to the Philz? My thought is it is kinda scary they are doing nightly builds of the recovery. Makes me think it could glitch and mess everything up.

Obviously, Philz has been out of development so what has everyone been using lately if it hasn't been Philz or this CM provided recovery?

Cm recovery has been around a long time. When you're on cm, look in dev options. You'll see an option that says whether or not to update cm recovery when flashing nightlies. Not new at all. It's only for flashing cm. That's the only rom it will flash. It's very basic recovery, more basic than cwm. Its pretty useless.
Most have left philz in favor of twrp. Twrp works fine on vm and boost now. It's a must really. It supports f2fs formatting, USB storage (you can backup to and flash from a USB flash drive or data stick), performs open recovery scripts, plus many more must haves. Most rom developers won't even offer support if you're not using twrp now. Philz is out dated and lacking. It was the best for this phone for a long time, but lack of development has left it wanting.

Sounds wild... I figured Philz was legacy by now. Just I have had no issues with it. But I figured there was something better. Is there a quick and easy way to migrate from Philz to TWRP (flash a zip) or do I have to ODIN a img of it? Also, I was looking around and there are a lot of different referenced versions of TWRP. Do they have a download page which would get me the latest stable release?

Get it here
You can get the tar and use odin, or just get the .img file and install it with flashify (play store)
