Root [Virgin Mobile] Newbie wants to root-much confusion with 4.3

Ok. I haven't rooted my VM GS3 and I'm running 4.1.2 MG2.

Don't want the Knox.

Which path do I take. I've been reading the forum and not quite understanding the path I take with a previous unrooted phone and to include the new 4.3

Michael......

You can't get 4.3 and not Knox - Knox is part of 4.3.

The question is why you want to root? If you're thinking that will allow you to get 4.3 without Knox (or get 4.3, then delete Knox), it won't.

Unless there's some specific app you want to run that requires root, you don't gain anything by rooting the phone. (What you lose is any and all warranties and insurance coverage.)

I had my previous phone rooted and I miss some of the functionality I had.
I especially would like to try out some of the new ROM's.
Not worried about warranty and insurance.

So do I use this procedure, or is this only for those who have updated to 4.3?

You are wrong. I am running 4.3 Knox FREE! Furthermore, you gain much more than that by rooting a phone. For starters, you can get rid of bloatware apps that you cannot uninstall if you are not rooted. You can also put custom ROMs such as CyanogenMod or AOKP (if they are available) on your device if you are rooted. Why are you on a thread specifically about rooted phones if you don't feel it is beneficial?

Anyway, to the OP, read through this thread over on XDA to learn about Knox-Free 4.3

Thanks GreyCelt. I've read a ton.
I just need someone to point me to which instructions I need to follow to root a 4.1.2 MG2 to 4.3 without the Knox.
Thanks.

Here is the guide I used.

I used the one above to root and the one from my previous post to install Knox-Free Stock 4.3.

Good luck and as a disclaimer...
