Root [Virgin Mobile] nj3 update

my baseband ends with nj3 now when I boot into recovery stock recovery it ends with nd8 shouldn't they match up? also I rooted with cf root and in my root checker report I have root is not properly configured and other weird things ill attach maybe someone can help. best recovery to use for d2vmu what do you guys/gals use with this phone. links would be fantastic. just starting with this rooting flashing stuff its awesome but I got a lot to learn thanks in advance

thanks a lot man ill give philz a go, I read on the cm rom on vmroms.com that I can update my baseband cause it requires ndc so if I do that than itll get rid of the nj3 update or am I wrong, than I can use roms that need ndc and what not?
 
Yes that will work with Odin. Just make sure you are using the TAR file.

You can't go back to NDC firmware because it's older than NJ3. Downgrading firmware will turn your phone into a nice shiny brick.

NJ3 is new firmware (it's only been out for a month) so you won't find much info on it. I'm still not running it myself.
 
Thanks ill flash that philz and make a backup before I start playing around. See that sucks I wish I knew that cause I woudve never installed it ill learn. from what im reading cm11 requires ndc is that right? or will any rom for d2lte work for my phone?
 
The latest builds seem to need NDC for data. You'll just have to try it and see if it works.
 
You can Odin Philz on NJ3, just make sure to uncheck auto reboot and once it completes take the battery out and boot into recovery. Kitkat firmware is needed for the latest builds to avoid data/gps issues. Both ND8 and NJ3 are fine.
 
So cannot odin back to NDC?

Read on xda that the nj2 odin can be flashed over nj3.

Just curious. I now have nj3 and some apps refuse to work. (Rec, some games, es file downloader.

No NDC. It will likely brick you. But yes you can flash nj2 in Odin.
 
Anyone have a full nj3 rom for odin?

Ive looked all over and found nothin.

Handy to have if you dont do or wiped out your nandroid.
