Root [Virgin Mobile] No Service After Flash

BigBossman

Well-Known Member
I flashed a zip to reset the flash counter on my phone and now I have no service. Initially I didn't have access to anything but I got recovery access and main access but still no service :( can someone please help me?

after reset i had to kies restore and call support for a RTN reset with msl code. in essence a deactivate and reactivate.

So I think I have an idea do on what to do. I flash your stock reset zip from the other thread then go to Kies and reset. Then call VM for my MSL to do an RTN reset then tell them to reactivate or what do I tell them?

Right now not only do I not have service other stuff isn't showing in the About Phone option. :(

Ok work is done for the day so i was trying to see how i can help BigBossman. Dude i found one 'error' in the update-script but i don't think it would have messed things up. I was missing a 'ui_print("Done"):' at the end but it didn't affect two phones here or lordmange. So i added that to the code and tried it again just now and it works perfectly here so i updated the downnload. If you can not get your device working and you have to call tech support then i can get you in a better spot. I threw together a stock md7 recovery with the flash reset into a flashable zip that is working with cwm-6.0.2.8. I've tried this twice now and it works just fine. It installs stock recovery then resets flash count, reboot and Device Status is 'Normal'. Be sure to throw the stock rom on there first as you will lose cwm and root 'pure stock+0 flash count+stock recovery' I tried signing those files but am having java issues. I'll look into that when i have more time.

This issue with losing connection is very troubling and should prompt us to tread with caution while messing around. Make sure you have good nandroids. I still can not update to mg2 and i lose connection when installing any rom including stock. My only functional situation is the nandroid i saved after the virgin tech unactivated/reactivated me. I don't think he fixed the issue i think he patched the issue on his end and i will never get updates again. I'll keep trying to figure this out.

I can only tell you what i would do IF i had to call tech support... I would load the stock zip TheBritt has posted or the kies firmware i posted or through kies yourself then, use this recovery/counter zip so you are back to pure stock.

As far as how to get pure mg2 or md7 to work otherwise, i have no clue.

Okay I'm downloading TheBrit's file do I use the modem too? After that do I call VM and tell them something like my phone turned off during an update and I need my MSL to do an RTN reset or?

Yea first verify your flash is clear and recovery is stock, call them and let them know it crashed during an update. If you start telling them you need msl/rtn reset blah blah, then they will think you been messing with it. Just tell them it crashed during update, no more, no less!!!

OK so flash Briton's file. Then call VM and tell them my service is dead after a failed update and then they'll give me what I need (I.E. the MSL)? Also is Briton's file gonna flash me back to stock recovery? Also do I flash the modem.

I don't know why you would need the modem but it shouldn't hurt either as it is the stock modem and your having connection issues.

Okay thanks for the help man. And do I flash the modem.bin before or after the bigger file? Also after I flash the bigger file I'll be back to stock recovery and everything?

OKAY! So I flashed the Modem through Mobile Odin without doing anything first and it WORKED!!! :D lol Cell's back, but no MMS sending but receiving is ok but no data.
Edit: Okay checked the APNs through ##DATA# and there screwed up beyond recognition lol anyone know how to go back to stock?
Edit:No MMSC and after flashing TheBritton's zip I have "Preparing Network" Message in the notification tab :(
