Root [Virgin Mobile] [Nub-**** Question] What is the difference between MG2 and MD7 FW?

Hey guys,

This may be a n00b question, but what is the difference between the MG2 and MD7 FW? Just curious, as I see the FW for both thrown around quite a bit, but after a search there does not seem to be any info on what is different about each.

Thanks ahead of time,

:smokingsomb:

MD7 is the original firmware for the VM SGS3, it had Ice Cream Sandwich bootloaders, so flashing anything Jelly Bean was not possible. The MG2 is an update which provides Jelly Bean bootloaders. If for some reason you are stuck on MD7 and can't upgrade, there is a thread by lordmage which provides the Kies update file for MG2.

with a bit of correction the MD7 SG3 was the early release edition of the VMU SG3 however if you waited a few weeks or so some MD7 edition had Jellybean bootloaders with ICS software. like mine was. the thread update file he speaks of is a simple fix for those who have issues. which will take a MD7 hone and update it to MG2 completely so you can then root and have fun.
