Root [Virgin Mobile] Rooting my Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE (Virgin Mobile)

Please forgive me if this should have been posted in an existing thread (moderators, please move it if it should've been).
I'm stuck rooting this phone (it's actually my third Victory, I've been successful on the first two). Following the instructions closely, the SuperSU Pro v1.34.zip file will not install (BusyBox is fine). The errors that come up are:

E:Unknown File System: 'datamedia'
. . .
Error flashing zip: '/external_sd/SuperSU Pro v1.34.zip'.

The phone will work, but it just isn't rooted.
Thinking possible the SuperSU file is maybe corrupt (same one I used before, however), I attempted to re-download, but can't find a working link!
Like I said this is my third Victory, I backed up the prior one using Titanium Backup, but obviously cannot restore until rooted.
Can anyone help?

Sounds like a bad download, indeed. Have you tried a newer version of SuperSU? You can also try Koush's Superuser

Koush's Superuser (there is a download link for a flashable zip in the description)

I, personally, prefer SuperSU as I have had some problems with Superuser but others like Superuser and say it works fine for them. I'd recommend trying both and using whichever you prefer.

If neither of those work, please let us know what ROM version and Recovery version you are using. Good luck!

I think I'd like to stick with SuperSU, because that's what worked before. I get to the download page, but I can't find the link there,--unless I'm supposed to use the 'UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65.zip" file (Opening the zip didn't look anything like the 1.34 file).

FYI: my phone has the stock ROM (don't I need root access to update that?), and the recover is TeamWin v2.4.3.0.

The UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.65.zip is the right one. The file's internal structure was changed to support both ARM and x86 processor targets (from what I gather).
 
Hey, that seemed to do it! The file installed no prob, and then root checker says it's rooted.
Wonder why the original file didn't work like it used to for me--I don't really care as long as I'm good!

Hi mkowitz ... would you mind sharing which set of instructions you are using for rooting the Victory? I've found several online but they all seem old and I'm uncertain which to try and follow. thanks!
 
Could be worse. I just switched to the Desire from the Victory and the Desire has 0 roms. I'd love to have a rom like Conquest on my Desire.
