Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] A few questions about the V6 update versions.

IIRC, robaho left the kernel and radio updates out of his modded V6 update.

Aside from the kernel and radio, am I missing anything significant?

Does the stock update add any new software? Hopefully it isn't any more bloat I'd have to remove.

Anyone try to go from robaho's V6 to stock V6? I read in one of the threads that the stock V6 might cap/throttle 4G tighter than it already is.

I haven't seen any significant changes, but at some point in time you will have to update (if we get KK) and that means the radio image too. The big problem has been that the loki patch was broken. Now the problem has been solved. It's nothing more then reverting to the aboot that loki recognizes (zv5) if you are running the updated version (zv6). That's it, that's all it takes and this is something djrbliss (loki) has commented on. (If you have experienced loki being broken by an update you should try reverting to the image that is recognized. It may not work for all devices effected by updated aboot image but it should be tried first. Guess what, we got lucky it works. So once you update you can either flash the zv5 aboot over the new one yourself (for those who know how) or just use my recovery installer. After that you can install which ever recovery you want (will not hurt my feelings it you use PG's). The important thing is you can flash anything the dev's here have come up with that's loki'ed for our phone. Remember you can always restore a backup, lol. Couldn't resist.:)

I'm working on creating a v6 stock Rom now. It won't include an aboot image. I figured someone may want to have it. Especially a deodexed version to theme.

It maybe a good idea for someone to create a flashable zip to upgrade or downgrade between V5 and V6.

That's good to hear because the reason I made the recovery was a) I like touch recoveries and there where non. b) Am a themer first and formost. I would love a rom that's deodexed. The point I was trying to make is the aboot is the only thing that matters. It's the key not the version. You can be on zv6 and run a zv5 kernal or zv5 to zv6 or zv6 to zv6 and on and on. If you really don't want to update, don't have to. But you actually need to include a zv5 aboot image and have it flashed in your updater-script for anyone on v6 that hasn't reverted their aboot for your rom to work. This way you know your loki'ed images will pass security inspection by the aboot at boot-up. Which is basically what is happening with the patch.

[Edit] Of course if they flash my recovery first the aboot is there but It's always good to play it safe, just in case

I'll include in the OP Instructions to use your cwm to make sure everyone is where they should be.
Right... the main thing is getting the community all on the some page. It's been nothing but confusion here ever since the update. Nothing getting done!;):D

I created a nandroid right after factory resetting my phone, then rooting it. It was still running on V5. (Those constant prompts for V6... ugh.) I was running my F3 activated and unrooted for a few days. So I should be good then. I installed robaho's V6 a day after the V5 nandroid was done.

As it is I backup my apps regularly with Titanium Backup.

In that case I can probably stick with what I have for now. :)

I created both V5 and V6 Stock Roms both Odexed and Deodexed. I'm waiting for a test install of both before I release them.

Yes I know we already have a stock V5 rom. These are a little bit updated. They have Init.d done a little bit differently. It's no longer embedded inside the kernel. Also they contain an updated SuperUser app and include the modem partition that should allow for transition between the versions a little easier.

I did include the aboot inside the V6. You were right. It was nessasary to use it with a loki'd boot.img

Would anyone like to test the V6 stock rom? PM me. You'll need to be on the v6 update.
