Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] Software update Mode (Not Download Mode)

To be clear I have no idea if this has any other use besides using the LG update tools.


1. Power Off Completely
2. Vol+ and Power untill you reach "Factory Hard Reset" mode
3. Plug in usb.
4. Push hold Vol+

And direct link to SW update files
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=####

Replace #### with you IMEI/(MEID HEX seems to work also) number (NOT your ESN)

Then You will get a page something like this..

Nice find. I've been in s/w mode but haven't been able to figure out how to get back to it.

I'm guessing s/w and download mode are similar. Kind of like nvflash for my old gtablet.

I've been to sw update mode but it is only used to install new firmware updates.
