This is the best, most relevant thread I've ever seen on the Android forums.

Someone delete it before its excellence leaks out and the rest of the forum feels inadequate by comparison.

You may be better off using VMware. Create an image and install Ubuntu or mint. I think there's one designed for android building as well.
 
I kinda want to make a rom theme based off the new Android L. I have the apks that was leaked from the nexus and the new google keyboard for Android L is a lot better than the one for jellybean.
