Has anyone heard of Octoplusbox?
Looks like it will unlock other LG phones. Unfortunately it's not for sale in the US.

I don't have the $$ to spare at the moment to purchase. Has anyone else attempted to use this?

I can't imagine why anyone would pay $160 to unlock a bootloader unless they were a complete hacker that got paid to unlock phones illegally all the time.

Also, that didn't unlock the bootloader, that just unlocked the MetroPCS GSM phone to be used on other carriers. It allowed other Sims to be used.

Unfortunately hes right. NV Data is direct phone settings not bootloader (two different parts of the phone)

z3box is the us alternative to octoplusbox.

Unlocking the bootloader would be dd'ing the bootloader section of the phone then using IDA to decrypt the partition to a readable decrypted code (decrypted source code) then editing the code to remove security features then encoding back to normal and flashed back to the phone.

Much more complex then what a program can do unless you create a patch file to patch the exact hex location of the partition like how the LG loki patch uses.

here's one to think about I don't know about you. I soldered pins onto a wcr-gn router to serial dd-wrt and it was a pain even with a 6 inch magnifying fluorescent light. Micro SD Cable for LG Tool MEP0 SD Cable Lgtool | eBay I'd say that's incredibly cheap if you don't have to solder with a microscope and it works with lg tools.
