Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] What does v8 add, anyway?

What's the difference from v5 to v6 to v7 to v8, anyone?

They are attemps to prevent people from rooting the phone. I'm still on V5 and the phone works fine.

That's pretty much true, i've heard they mainly add things to help the carrier track the device. Like v6 has morningcall? None of them really add performance, or battery life, or anything.

I am sure there might also be bug fixes for internal stuff (like wifi tethering?) I do not have the phone anymore so I am unsure.
