Root [Virgin Mobile/Sprint] Why cant I boot into recovery?

alright im stuck I installed twrp via terminal emulator and cant boot into recovery when I do a factory reset it uses the custom recovery and I did mannage to get it to boot up twice right after I did a factory reset but its not doing it anymore ive also tried reflashing it via terminal emulator and also cwmt using the same method it does the same thing factory reset> custom recovery to factory reset but cant get into recovery using the hardware buttons anybody got any ideas I dont have a computer so Im not going to brick my device using a reboot recovery function is also v8 firmware if that makes a difference.

Im really sick of having no room and 4-6 hours of battery life

Are you pushing volume up, or volume down when you hold the power button?

I 90% sure I do I hold vol down+ power until I get a booting into recovery prompt then it flashes the lg boot up logo and then flashes it again only this time it does the animation where the L shines and then it boots up normaly

Try pressing and holding the buttons again until it prompts then let go. Then press and hold them again until it prompts again and then let go. Seams lg is playing a little trickery with the newer phones trying to hide how to get into it.
