Root [Virgin Mobile] Stock Recovery?

Through adb do
"dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery"

That or using terminal emulator app, but adb can be your best friend sometimes. If I was home, I could make a flashable zip if u want...

kies is still saying my device current firmware version isnt supported. This is so frustrating

Are you trying to use kies from recovery?

AFAIK kies can't read recovery through device because recovery partition isn't mounted when phone isn't on, but check whether u have something with kies name on it in /system/bin or /sbin/
Also u may want to disable USB debugging

Could the whole reason my phone is messed up be from accidentally flashing the sprint stock rom?

I don't think so because kies would at the least say your phone is a Sprint Galaxy Victory. Maybe it notices your root and it doesn't like that?
