Root [Virgin Mobile] Text from virgin mobile??

Just got this text today. Anyone else getting this? And do I really need to do this? I'm running TW/4.4.2 Conquest Singularity. Screenshot below.

I can't read the image you uploaded but I imagine it says to reset your phone after the KK update. I'm running the same ROM and everything is working great so I'm just going to ignore it.
 
I got it. All it does is wipe your network settings and reruns phone activation. All your apps and data stay intact. Not sure their reason for doing it. Maybe to fix the issue where some people phones display Samsung instead of Virgin Mobile as carrier.

Doesn't hurt to do it but if your phone works then I see no reason to. You would have to be on stock rom or one of the roms based of stock for this to work. Custom roms based on AOSP are missing the needed components for this to work.

I got the text too.
I went ahead and did it though. No problems with it. And yes, it now says Virgin where Samsung used to be.

I just received the same text. Changes the Samsung as the Mobile carrier back to Virgin Mobile. And it also put back the Virgin Mobile splash screen back on bootup. Also the Virgin Mobile My Account app works again.
 
The text is to tell you to dial in a code that will reset your phone after getting the 4.4.2 upgrade. Apparently, the 4.4.2 upgrade causes a lot of problems with the Virgin Mobile GS3. The only way to get the phone to work correctly is to factory reset it after the upgrade.

Yes and I had that problem.... but only on e they throttled me... once I got throttled my data was broken...ran the pan reset code and changed to 3G and it fixed my no data issue after being throttled.. so I'd say do it only if u want but definitely if you dont Have data

It isn't a factory reset
 
I didn't need to reset. After I received the update, my radios were kind of wonky. I just updated my PRL and Profile (System settings > More > system update) and everything works just fine now.
 
I just got my s3, I didn't get the text but all my stuff said Samsung not virgin so I entered the code. It went through the process but it still says Samsung and no virgin splash screen on startup. Also my account app still not working.

Hey Madbat. Welcome to the S3 world. Be sure and check out the moonknightus conquest thread.

Be careful, you can brick the S3 if you don't follow the rules.
