Root [Virgin Mobile] Unlimited Data Thing

Well according to this user you get unlimited data:
It seems to be until you reboot you must perform this trick. I running the midnight rom if that makes a difference here which it may. First get Check out
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jumobile.manager.systemapp
Next is hardest the phone has to be on 3g but still have LTE enabled, for those of you in well covered LTE areas this probably won't work.
Now when on 3g only open root app uninstaller and remove Samsung DM service and then com.sec.MSC.nts.android.proxy
You should now be throttle free on 3g and LTE until you reboot. When you reboot restore the two apps in app remover and then start from the beginning.

Hope this helps someone else!
I was wondering has anyone tried this? Is it Safe, because I can try it, I just got a replacement phone from VM. What happens when you do no have the samsung dm service?

Then it means that they caught on to the trick and you can't use it. You're lucky. If you defeat throttling, they can send you a bill for all the overage you used. (And it'll hold up in court, since you're guilty of theft of service.) So if you're the kind who watches movie streams all day, or downloads huge files every day, you could get hit with a bill for a few thousand dollars. If your only problem is that you now have to be like everyone else, consider yourself lucky.

(That's the latest marketing tool, BTW - unlimited data, but in-office throttling [it can't be defeated in the phone because it's not being done in the phone] once you reach a certain point. The problem with that is that we probably won't be able to buy higher throttling points, since they won't want to talk about throttling. "You have unlimited data, so how can you buy more than as much as you use?" At least now, with limited data, heavy users have the option of buying more.

Wow well I'm not going to try it now lol. If anyone wants to try it and report please. Well looks like I'll forced to go sprint. It's a shame this market doesn't even need to exist.

Sprint has lots of unuses bandwidth, so they're still giving the world away. When they start getting customers they'll start throttling too. They stopped making more bandwidth a few billion years ago.

I've been trying all weekend and it doesn't work for me. Everything seems to be working on the ROM. Calls, texts, etc...

Please let me know if anyone else can get it to work.

I don't know if any of you have checked out the MOAR and Wicked Sensations threads over at XDA or not. I've read where quit a few people have reported no throttling with those ROMs. Nothing was done to cause the data not being throttled other than flashing the ROM. It may work for you, it may not. I just thought I would mention it here in case any of you wanted to try them. Both are excellent ROMs. ;)

When it boils down to it, the best way to keep from being throttled is to use oitside wifi sources or a home connection if available. If you do decide to use your carrier's data plan, be smart and choose your downloads wisely.

Unfortunately where I live, dsl is not available, could you also link the roms?

currently as Rukbat said its all in the marketing, every company throttles its just how much they throttle you and when then do, VM i believe its after 2.5GB, sprints used to be after 3-4gb i believe its been raise but it is still there, att just doesnt care theyll throttle you if they feel like it lol

as youve seen tho as he said if we got unlimited data even on the highest plans yet we actually have a maximum how are we to increase the amount of data we can use?

in walks the service providers "Tethering Plans", im not sure if VM even rolled it out yet which is why i personally believe many of us have gone this long without throttling, but according to there press release about it its the only way to remove the GB limit on throttling which equals more $$ for them, as the cheapest on i saw on the release was $15 extra a month

the real fact of the matter is the companies are having a very very hard time keeping up with user due to the fact they have been lying for years about how much bandwith they have and how fast our services are, just like the cable providers have been doing with our internet

they've effectively lied themselves into a corner where they have nothing to do but throttle us and claim we need to pay more so they can "upgrade" the network when all there upgrades are doing is expanding the network so they can get more customers and more money, they dont update there Infostructure at all

in reference to my comment about ISP providers, all of them have been caught doing it (At&t, Comcast, Verizon, Time Warner) Comcast has been throw under the bus by Level 3 internet who is the sole reason comcast even has internet, and they themselves have said comcast makes no effort to increase there system or speeds yet, sells package plans to users they know they can't hold up so the user believes they need to upgrade, on top of that comcast bogs speed randomly to make users believe they need upgrades as well, comcast in this instance then takes that money and expands the reach of there service while leaving the already failing system as it is

they are all corrupt and stealing from us everyday lol its our choice that we let them

thought id throw PS in here lol

PS also as rukbat said VM can see exactly how much data you use at all times, they can even see if its thru talk, texts, internet, most likely even tethering so willingly circumventing the system can actually get you in trouble on top of the fact that most providers have ridiculous pricing attached to overage charges which youd then have to pay, then after that most likely find a new provider as VM now has a reason to deny you service

wanna see some crazy phone company garbage, google AT&T and outrageous bills lol

Well how can we hide the fact that we are tethering then? I heard there is a way, but still why are they able to do this in the first place? This is our phone, they shouldn't be able to read our texts.

Tokens, that is one of the best descriptions of what these companies are actually doing as far as their actual bandwidth, what they say they have and what they REALLY have. You've done an excellent job of breaking it down and answered a lot of questions in very few words.

Excellent information and great post.

why thank you for the complements, ive known about it all for some time, only problem is nothings changing yet and in certain areas your kinda stuck with whatever providers so its either use them and get robbed or go without

ive heard rumors of a new tech company or system called alistar (dont think its spelled like that lol) or something like that thats currently working on cable/internet and then hopefully mobile networks, according to the rumors there going to prove the companies have been doing it by easily obliterating there speeds and bandwith sizes

Comcast even tried to sue google recently when it attempted to come to the east coast stating there creating a monopoly when the entire is coast is pretty much run by time warner or comcast, which are one in the same since there partnership

there may be some ways to hide it, only problem is size, if your connected to wifi, and tethering that signal thats different

but if your tethering the mobile data they can easily tell by size of the data, a pc or laptop will be able to pull much much more then the phone would, if your were lets just say pulling way more then 2.5 a month like even while throttled you still used like 6.5gb theyll know that wasent just the phone

i believe the entire tether thing as i said is a money scheme and i will also tether but i reserve it for when i absolutely need it, like if my cable goes out due to an accident or something ill use it things like that

It would definitely be nice to see Bright House/Comcast/TW get someone to pull their card, so to speak. Competition is good for the consumer. Higher speeds, lower bills, etc. Right now Bright House/Comcast/TW are the big fish in the pond. I hope a company comes along with the backing to compete with them. If they were able to offer what I have now for a lower price, I would jump ship in a heartbeat. Living in the area I'm in right now, I'm stuck like Chuck. There are no other companies that even serve the small city where I'm at. Well, let me take that back. There's always Directv. (that was a joke) :D
