Help Virgin Samsung A3 - UK

Hi all,
I recently purchased a Samsung A3 after my galaxy ace finally gave up, i had that one since release.
I am with Virgin mobile who use other network providers so you always have a signal. On my old galaxy ace i had a signal everywhere and was able to connect to the internet everywhere too. Since i have had the A3 though i have rarely been able to connect to the internet and i always seem to be on the virgin network and have had no signal on a few occasions. The phone doesnt seem to be connecting to the other networks as it did on the ace.
Does anyone know what i need to do to fix this?

Go to Settings/Wireless & networks/More.../Mobile networks/Network operators.
Allow the phone to scan and identify all available networks, then choose "Virgin Mobile" from the list.
Reboot the phone, and if you're offered updated internet settings (APNs) be sure to install these.
