virus info

Virus, in the sense of self-propagating code, no.

However, there is malware (malicious software). The difference between that and a virus is that you need to install it yourself. The biggest risk is installing apps from dodgy sites, where what you think is an innocent app is really malicious. Any site that offers paid apps for free should be avoided, because these sites are full of malware. If you stick to reputable sources (Google Play Store, Amazon Appstore) you should be safe.

As a second level of protection, look at the app's permissions before installing: if it seems to want permission to do a lot of stuff that's unrelated to its function then be suspicious, but remember that if it's a free, ad-supported app the advertising will require extra permissions, and some are not obvious (e.g. the "read phone state" permission looks like the app has access to a lot of private info, but may be needed just so that it can silence itself if a call comes in).
