Root Visual Voicemail Anyone?

MKREdit

Newbie
I rooted my Dinc for the first time this week and Ive been trying out several roms. There are a couple I want to use exclusively but they all seem to have one problem No visual voicemail. It would seem no rom has either the HTC or Verizon VM. Youmail and other 3rd party VM providers are not an option. Am I condemed to running the stock rom because of this? Attempts at installing the vvm.apk have been unsucsessful.

Virtuous Buddy, a companion app for the Virtuous ROM as an option to enable/disable VMM.

The problem seems to be when I install the incredible revolution theme. It somehow disables the VVM. No luck with the virtuous buddy toggle

I have NO idea how to use those Toggles in Virtuous Buddy. Where is the help screen? I hit one for my people widget and it made it disappear. I don't get it. Where is the benefit and how do I use them?

The toggles in Virtuous Buddy are, well, toggles. If the toggle for something has it turned on then hitting the toggle will turn it off and vice versa. There is a place in Virtuous Buddy to see what things have been turned off. The benefit to toggling something off is that it will not load and possibly pull cpu and radio power in the background.

Same there here. All is fine with Virtuous and then once I apply the theme, VVM is gone. No one else has this problem? Have installed and reinstalled a few times already.

YouMail is a free Visual Voicemail app in the market. Not sure if it will work with other Roms. I'm using the stock Sense UI. It's worth a try though.

I've tried Visual Voicemail on Ruby and CM6 but each time I try to install it, it tells me that my phone has Visual Voicemail built in and then it takes me to uninstall the Verizon one. Any way around this?

Youmail is great. I moved to Google voice, mainly for the fact of having a second number through them for business... both work well.

Who said they were not an option?

uhh...

$2.99 EXTRA for visual voicemail? no thanks. ill take the time to LISTEN to what people need to tell me.

I was really hesitant to move away from the HTC VVM. Then I switched voicemail to Google Voice and it has been amazing.

Try it out.

I think you miss the point of visual voice mail. You still listen to the voice mail you just don't have to listen through ALL of them to get to the one you want. You see a list of all your voice mails, and who they are from and you select the one you want to hear. Plus there's no more annoying logging in and waiting for the stupid verizon last to slowly read you all your options.

I HATE regular voicemail. Google voice is my favorite app of all time. And its free!
