Help Vivid: Only 1 CPU core running? 8 GBs?

Hi,

I bought an HTC Vivid from a local AT&T reseller. I have had it around a month and finally today had time to really look into the smartphone.

One thing I noticed is that the system and 3rd party utilities say it only has 8 GBs on the internal SD card. I thought it was supposed to have 16 GBs?

Also, the CPU meters I have downloaded say that only 1 CPU core is running. That core is running under pretty heavy load

I think part of the issue currently is While Froyo and Gingerbread are multithreaded and able to take advantage of multicore CPU's a lot of the apps out right now aren't built to take advantage of the newer hardware. With dual-core phones being more widespread and things like the Transformer Prime with a quad-core Tegra3 chip we should hopefully see a shift in app design processes to be more multi-core friendly. ICS is from what I've read been coded to fully take advantage of multi-core devices. I noticed a bit of a speed boost across the board when my Prime went from Honeycomb to ICS. I'm looking forward to seeing the where the app market goes and see what other innovations come out software side.

I'm having the same issue with the 8gb internal memory glitch. After speaking with my local AT&T, it seems their floor model has the same issue. Their solution was the perform the recommended software upgrade.

However, I've rooted my phone. Is there a quick fix out there somewhere to address this?
