Vivo 1820

But this device was just released on March 2019.
updates are up to the manufacturer and your provider. some manufacturers like lg and even samsung are known to be either slow in their release or provide only a few updates.....so who knows when or if your phone will ever get an update.

your phone which i think is the Y91i is not even listed on vivo's own website. you can try asking your provider, maybe they might have some insight...but i would not give your hopes of getting much of an answer.

Perhaps I should have said, BBK are extremely poor at supporting their Vivo and Oppo phones with updates.

I presume you've done the update check in the FuntouchOS Settings, and it states it's up to date? You have got an international Vivo 1820, and not an imported Chinese variant?

AFAICT with Vivo and Oppo these days, they get what they come with, and that's very much it. It's the main reason why I would never have another of their phones myself now. Android 10 has been out for almost a year now, and that's many manufacturers are rolling out to their supported phones.

Also there's virtually no rooting and ROM developer support for Vivo and Oppo now either, so almost no chance of a custom ROM. Unlike about 4-5 years ago.

You're right, it is a Vivo Y91i all right.
But a mini update released on this device on Feb 2020, which made me wonder about the Android 9 update.

It's the original version all right;
And they rolled out an update on Feb which made me wonder about the Android 9 update.
As Vivo has started rolling out the android 9 update on other models, I thought one will be released in this too.
But there's nothing about this device in any android forums.
Doesn't the update on Feb signify that Vivo hasn't stopped their work on this Model.

not necessarily. it could have been just a security update to keep your device more secure. i would not put too much into it.

I'm actually in China, and there's a few Vivo and Oppo(same company) retailers in my neighbourhood, and from what I've seen of them they seem to release and discontinue phones every few months. So a Vivo that was purchased March 2019, may well be out of support and no more updates.

On the other hand I've got a Huawei Mate 10(after I had a couple of Oppos) that I purchased January 2018, that's still been supported with updates. It originally came with Android 8, and now it's on Android 10.

About Android Forums and your Vivo, AF is a US site, and AFAIK Vivo and Oppo phones are mainly available in Asia, and are NOT sold in the United States.

So, waiting for the android 9 update is hopeless.
I bought this as my secondary device on Jan 2020
and actually thought of buying the Samsung M10s or something but I was not satisfied with its quality; so I bought this instead and thought that the android 9 update will roll out soon.
