VLC Stream & Convert or Gmote Help

role2682

Lurker
I'm trying to use VLC stream & convert to stream music to my Samsung Epic 4G (Galaxy SII; Sprint Version) From my windows 7 pc. I can connect and see all my files and it streams but no audio on phone, if i use as remote for pc audio works fine. I have done a lot of searching and the only thing I can find is that its a problem with ffmpeg AAC encoder (libavcodec) on my pc but i cant find anything about how to fix it. I have forwared all required ports, I know thats not the problem or I wouldnt be able to connect at all. I have also set rules in firewall. Tried with firewall off as well.

I use to use gmote on my HTC EVO 4G but its not working on my new phone either. I'm having a pretty simaliar problem, I can connect and see all files but when I try to play over 3g I get "error 1-503" on my phone. If I play on pc it works or if I play over WIFI on my phone it works. I forwared all required ports, set my enviromental variables for VLC and for JAVA but still no luck. I have also set rules in firewall. Tried with firewall off as well.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated or if there is another program out there that I can stream music to my phone over 3g from my pc I'm willing to try that.

I'm at work so i dont have log files with me but if anybody can help me I can post log files and what ever errors come up running debug mode for either program, I dont care which one I use, I just need one to work.

Say no more my friend. Subsonic is your answer. Been using it for over a year and I can't imagine life without it.

You get video streaming too :)

Update- Fixed issue with GMOTE, havent tried VLC stream and convert yet. I will try when I get off work and reprot back.

This problem steams from the update sprint realeased back in december,
2010 ( I think thats when it was released) it was ver 3.70.651.1. I
spoke to sprint and was told this problem was fixed and that it only
effected EVO's (that was bullshit) but it still is not completley
fixed. SOmethings where fixed like streaming of Pandora, Sirius App,
Directtv sunday ticket and I'm sure some others as well that I dont
use but You can not stream MP3's still but the work around that i used
on my HTC EVO 4G still works. here it is (this information can be
found all over google if you know what to search for:

FIX (sent by Arturo)
1. Go to phone dial and type ##3282#

"there is no need to push call button after. If that did nothing
restart your phone and try again"
2. Choose edit mode
3. Put in password.

"You can get the password by calling Sprint and asking for MSL code,
or password for ##3282#, they should give it to you."
4. Choose Advanced
5. Change HTTP PD Proxy Port to: 0
6. Change HTTP PD Proxy Address to: 0.0.0.0

Dont bother calling sprint to get MSL code, just install connectbot
(its free in the market)
Open Connectbot. In the small dropdown box on the bottom left that
says SSH, click and choose local. Put Android or whatever in the
nickname box and hit enter. Click on Android.
Use the command "getprop ril.MSL" and hit enter.
Your MSL will be displayed.
