Vlingo: Funny Thing Happened on Way to the Market

so i saw this article (Vlingo Update Brings InCar Mode Exclusively for Sprint | Android Phone Fans) and it sounded pretty interesting, especially with a sprint connection. i remembered seeing this a few days ago when the sprint zone notification showed up in my status bar. well, i pulled up sprint zone and lo-and-behold, there's vlingo. i selected it and was directed to the market, but then received "The requested item could not be found." what gives?

i was able to search for it directly from the market. anyone tried vlingo? how does it compared to similar google apps?

The car app is available for the Evo. Were you trying to find it on another phone?

yeah, epic. the link from sprint zone to market doesn't work, but if i search for it directly from the market, it shows up. i installed it and tried it a little bit. it's pretty nice and able to recognize my voice without calibration or anything. i like the settings for nerds description. :p

the one thing i don't like is it leaves a couple of services running in the background even though i have exited it.

I just changed my regular vlingo to the version with "in car". I'm going to test it out on the way home and I'll report back my findings.

I just wish these voice search options had a way to connect to bluetooth. This would make things WAY easier.

Since the headset thru the Car speakers thing has been fixed, I don't even know where my BlueTooth is... & there isn't much to post about Vlingo besides its pretty farkin sweet :D

NO Stay away from Vlingo! I can only speak for myself but this app has ruined my phone for using in my car. Even after I un-installed it, things are not the same. This is my thread on this issue.
Bluetooth problem after Vlingo

Interesting. I hadn't gotten a chance to report back, but I haven't had any issues with mine at all. Only thing I noticed is it still doesn't quite pick up the accurate person to call every time, but it's still better than the stock Google one because it shows the person you're trying to call, prior to connecting.

I wonder if it has to do with Stock ROM non-rooted vs. cooked ROM rooted? Dunno, but just thought I'd throw this out there to report back my experiences thus far.
