Root VM Revamp Modification?

Could someone offer a little guidance? I want to modify certain things (like what was possible with UOT Kitchen in the past, but the graphics/icons there are somewhat outdated) to sort of match the S3 UI. Really, I just want the statusbar and icons to look very similar to that.

Any help?
