Help Vodafone UK - Galaxy S Now On Froyo 2.2

GOOD NEWS FOR VODAFONE UK USERS WAITING ON FROYO 2.2

Connected my Galaxy S to Keis this morning at 0700 GMT & was greeted with the mesage firmware update available:)

Proceeded with firware upgrade & am now running Froyo 2.2 Build Number: FROYO.BUJP7

Upgrade went vewry smoothly using the latest version of Keis.

The Vodafone badging & splash screens have dissapeared :D

The phone is functioning 100% & does seem faster & less laggy, although as i have just upgraded i will reserve a full judgement untill i have time to test properly.

My Phone is with Vodafone UK & is completely stock with no rooting history or tweaks of any kind!

I eagerly plugged my vodafone Galaxy in to kies,(restored drivers etc:confused:) , upgrade available, great i thought, it downloaded the binaries installed etc, only to upgrade me to bujm4, gutting is a good word to use, to make matters worse it has now put a load of vodafone crap on the phone:(:(:(:(:(
I wonder when i will get froyo?

Couple of questions for ya?

Are You On Vodafone UK?
Have you done any registry hacks to keis in an attempt to get Froyo earlier?
What version of Keis do you have?

They have a massive thread about this on their forum on VF. But this depends on your existing firmware? Mine is de branded, but I get no update from VF.

I think there are also a few issues with their version, so I don't think its the final release.

Yup, vodafone uk, I have not done any hacks or changes and using the latest version of kies (still unreliable). I have alsoseen all the threads on vodafone forum, VF are not coming out of this looking good, with no clear statement of when anything is going to happen and piling bloatware on, when everyone is clearly opposed.

I dont know why i took my upgrade with vodafone now, i was sick of them 2 months ago and im super sick of them now, their tech guys are as much use as a square wheel, their service is great, WHEN IT WORKS!! (currently waiting for mast in my area to be fixed but the part for it had to be ordered, 1 week now, they getting it from china?!) They have taken payments of us that have not been autherised or double the amount owning and to top it off they cant even just load up froyo 2.2 without messing around with it!! just leave it the fudge alone and give us the Samsung update please!!! (contract will not be upgraded again, that is for sure)
 
Wish I'd read this thread first........
Plugged my bog standard Vodafone UK contract Galaxy S into Kies (latest version) and was told there was a firmware upgrade. Same as Scottie I now have a load of vodafone crap added to my phone that I never asked for, and am still running 2.1. Any ideas on how to get rid of the crap?
 
I fear that all we can now do is wait for froyo proper and hope and pray that VF come to their senses and remove all the crap.
the bit i dont get is why do they do it, there is a cost to doing this so what is the point, the 360 store is clearly doomed to fail, sad really

Ok I have now offically DEBRANDED my Galaxy S and no longer have any of vodafones junk on my mobile, I am also fully Froyo 2.2 upgraded, this is the proper version and not the reg edit messing around thing that people do which risks bricking your phone. And I didnt have to use kies for anything other than backing up my contacts (and you dont even need to do that if you have your contacts on ur sim and other data on SD card). Anyway im vodafone free now other than my contract lol
