For anyone that didn't know it has been released today.

So I got the OTA and installed it, when it had completed there was a new software license/disclaimer. You have to go in and click "I agree".

When I did so it came up with a message that said "Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available".

So just to check I went to Settings -> About -> Check for update. I receive the same error here.

My phone is not modified in any way - no ROMs, no root etc.

I suspect there has been some issue with the branded firmware, maybe it isn't recognised properly and therefore the system believes the phone has been modified.. Pain in the ass, why carriers just can't leave firmware alone I don't know. Most of the VF extras can be uninstalled and those that can't I've disabled, there really is no point in their own firmware..

Same for me mate but it looks like it has still installed JB and everything seems to be working OK so far.

One major bummer for me is I lost root access now :-( gutted

I got the same message but it installed fine... I interpreted it as meaning there were "no further updates at this time". But I didn't really read it, just agreed and got on with it.

Dunno if it's just me but I can't find/access Google now which is one of the major parts of the update.

So I don't know whether it has worked or not :-\

Can't even do a restore back to ICS since I lost root access :-(

If you hold the home button until it brings up the multi task there should be a g (middle bottom) press that for Google now. Or you can hold menu.

I'm not sure if cfroot works on jellybean but you can flash a custom jb kernel such as siyah with Odin to get root access back

I was just about the post the same thing. No 'Google Now' on mine either.
Does anyone know, have Samsung removed it from their Jelly Bean/Touchwiz or is it a Vodafone thing?

Cheers

Great news, the Android 4.1 JellyBean update will be made available for Samsung Galaxy S3 handsets purchased from Vodafone on Monday.

The update will be a staggered release, meaning customers will be notified in batches that it’s available for over the air download over the course of several days.

If you choose to download it over the air, we’d recommend using WiFi as the file size is substantial.

Alternatively, if you’d like to update without waiting for the over the air prompt, connect your phone to your PC with Samsung Kies and you’ll be able to update once it’s available on Monday.

Thx for all the replies guys i really do appreciate it ;)

I was told to swipe the screen from bottom to top to access Google Now, long pressing the Home key done the trick tyvm :)

As for flashing the kernal, do i just flash the kernal or will i have to go through the full root process again? i'm not interested in custom rom's etc just want root privileges.

On a side note does anyone use Juice Defender Pro? It's starting to be more of a pain in the backside than anything else even after configuring it. Is it worth having?

Thx again guys :smokingsomb:

Hmmm I bought my S3 last week sim free after my Sensation X.E was nicked on holiday. When I check for the update I'm getting the message "Access to the software update service is provided to users in the order in which they request it. Try later"

Sound like I might get it then?

Well I updated today after much trouble with Kies!!

Copy/Paste is still broken !!!!!! Cannot believe it.

Standard email app isnt working either just a blue spinning circle with loading under it!

Have you tried a factory reset?

Have you tried a factory reset?

Done it once before and it was a genuine pain in the hole trying to get my phone back to the way i liked it.

Dont get me wrong it fixed copy and paste but not long after it stopped working again.

I really did not want to do another factory reset, it shouldnt be the only way to fix the issue without rooting its pathetic.

But theres no way of knowing what app causes it and its not just me with this problem theres threads about it on here.

Trial and error is the only way. You'd have to invest time and effort into it. There are also loads here who don't have it. Does factory reset fix it for the others too?

Yeah it fixes it for others too, root users just clear the clipboard cache and away they go.

My experiences with JD have never been good- seems like it burns almost as much battery "managing" the phone as you would just lose not having it installed in the first place. I tried it on two phones, both of which really needed battery help (I think the battery on the S3 is pretty robust) and I still ended up ditching it. I also experienced some data reconnection issues on one of the phones after JD had toggled 3G data.

With that being said, lots of folks swear by it, but in my experience, YMMV.

Thx for your reply m8 ;)

I am going to uninstall it and see how it goes without for a few days.
