voice calling battery consumption

so i used my phone today for 12 hours and 20 minutes with 43percent of battery going to voice calls for 1 hour and 40 minutes... screen on 2h 47m but only 23 percent of battery used...

basically to me the battery consumption used by voice is horrible.... i do not see how i'm going to come remotely close to the claimed 21 hours... I may get 4 hours at most...

anyone else experience this... thoughts?? suggestions???

43% of what?

What was the battery level when it said 43% had been used for voice calls?

If it was 43% of the total charge, you'd have a problem...but, based on my Maxx...I doubt that was the case.

The math gets sorta complicated (especially this late at night)...but what I am saying is this....you have to factor in just how much battery had been used at the time you noted the 43% that was used by voice calls.

Those battery stats are the percentage of battery used at the time by that single action (e.g. voice calls), they are not the percentage of total battery used...for example....if you had only used 10% of the full charge when you seen the 43%...then 43% is not much at all.

But if you had used 90% of the full charge at the time...yeah, something is wrong.

Voice calls do use alot of battery but its not as bad as the battery stats can make it seem.

I hope that makes sense...

Also, 21 hours is a "best case scenario"...such as data off, dim screen, no GPS, no wifi, no bluetooth...nothing...just talking on the phone.

What were you doing for the rest of that 12+ hours you were "using" your phone, and how much charge was left when you noted the 43%? Those 2 questions must be answered before your post or any answer given can be useful.

What was your total battery consumption? the percentage values you quoted are the relative it's the percentage of the battery usage due to voice calling, display, etc. if your battery was significantly below 60% with that usage you might have an issue, if not you're probably fine.

And no, you won't see that 21 hour figure unless you so nothing but use voice calling. Screen off, no data usage, nothing significant running in the background, etc.

that was on a 100 percent charge taken down to 1 percent remaining
rest as follows andriod os 15 percent 1hr 7 min
xscope ( browser) 4 per 13m
phone idol 3per 9h 48m
cell standby 3 per 12h 37m
facebook 2% 5min

i have an application called bad ass battery monitor even at full charge it says talk time is around 4 and a half hours.... i'll run the battery again down tomorrow... and try to provide better stats

If its a new phone....don't run the battery down that low again...there's no point in it and it only shortens the life of the battery.

Use it for a week so (normal use) and let the battery get few charge cycles under its belt...it should improve.

I've been sitting here watching NetFlix and movies from the Google store most of the day on my Maxx (OTR truck driver)...Pandorum is cool movie...have 46 minutes of phone calls using Bluetooth...and mine is still at 30%.

I've had mine about 3 weeks.

And the stock battery monitor works too...seems plenty accurate on mine anyway. See if it has the same stats as your app.

Have you calibrated your battery yet ( run the phone till it dies then charge it completely)? if not then do that.

ive had it about a week and a half... mainly using 4g... i don't think i have ever had great voice call battery life... could it just be signal stregnth? although its pretty good... also my battery temp gets up to around 100 degrees at times.

Wrong. Its bad to run it down like that constantly, but doing it occasionally is not a problem. the biggest ways of improving the lifespan of the battery is don't let it charge excessively when not in use (IE if you aren't going to use it for 12+ hours take it off the charger) and avoid high temperatures.
Edit: is that 100 degrees Fahrenheit or celsius? If its fahrenheit your fine, celsius then it is way too hot.

I don't believe one could say I am "wrong"...maybe I didn't go into great detail (I didn't)...but I wasn't wrong.

These batteries will take only so many charge/discharge cycles...
