Voice memo/Voice recorder?

One of my favorite functions, about my Samsung S3, ( I sound like I'm talking about one of my old girlfriends here, cue sad music) was the voice memo, or voice record function. If I had a musical idea, or a little bit of poetry I could record it and would save it as a voice memo. On the Moto X pure, I see a voice search, but I do not see a voice memo, or simple recording device, nor do I see anything that says record, nor memo.

Can someone tell me where the recording device is located on this unit? or will I have to download an app?

I love Easy Voice Recorder Pro. If you have an Amazon account, you can get it under their Actually Free program. Very functional.

that looks great! does it let you save the messages to your Sd card? That's very important for me. Why did they get rid of the old stock app?

YES: in the app's Settings you can either leave it to save to internal memory or to the external SD card. As far as why the stock app is no more, I can't speak to that.
