Voice recognition issues

I have a Droid x2 Motorola and my voice recognition is all screwed up. Really bad. My settings are all in US English, so is my keyboard. It seems to want to put me in some kind of Spanish, now I've studied Spanish and this isn't even close and not even close to what I am speaking, it appears to be translating what I am saying into something else. Sometimes it comes in as French. IF I speak in Spanish, it gets it close. I am a native Delawarean - I have no discernible accent. Now every once in a while, I get English. But it is about 10 percent of the time.

I recall having to read and speak some kind of script when first starting my voice recognition - maybe that was for Google Maps? I got interrupted with that could that be the problem?

Any ideas? Oh, I do have a Spanish Translator App that I don't use often. I just opened it up and spoke English into it and it translated it correctly. Voice search also works beautifully.
