Voice Recording interrupts problem

i need a way to forward all calls to voice mail OR a sound recording app that does not quit... seems simple enough... but i've researched it for hours and i've gotten nowhere.

PROBLEM: i use the 'voice recorder version 1.0' app that came with my droid to record interviews, lectures and meetings (i'm a TERRIBLE note taker!). it works great for all 3 but, annoyingly, as soon as any call comes in the app quits immediately

first attempt at a solution: set the app to ignore phone calls. no such setting on this app that i can find.

second (& just plain obvious) solution attempt... Forward All Calls To Voicemail: I learned that i can call *72 (plus 10-digit phone number) to forward all incoming calls to any phone number. so, i surmised that placing a call to *72, plus my phone number, would work. instead, all callers get a busy signal. i continue to search for some tele number that i could put after the *72 that would send callers to voice mail but have found nothing yet.

third attempt: find a new sound recording app that either doesn't stop recording when a call comes in, or forwards incoming calls for you. i have not found anything - no one even seems curious about a feature like this...

am i missing something simple?
Thank you very much and have a nice day!

the really short version of the issue:
how do you forward all of your calls to voice mail?
-or-
is there such a thing as a VOICE RECORDING APP that does not quit recording as soon as a call comes through?

never mind.... problem solved.... if you want to forward calls to your voice mail (with Verizon carrier), you dial *72. that's it. don't add your own phone number like i was doing! i thought it would be something simple!
